Nature and wildlife on Skye
Well, Skye is simply great. There is something for everyone. To give you an idea of the nature and wildlife just take a look at these pictures we took during our visits over the last few years on, or in the proximity of, the site on which Pooltiel House was built.
These pitures are on Flickr. Just click on the tumbnails on the right. There are deer, whale's, dolphins, a basking shark and diving gannets.
For some more pictures of the building of the cottage you can click the "Photos" tab on the top of the site or go here.
Special
You can find more pictures on Flickr, but we like to put these three on the site itself. ☞
The seal: this picture was taken at Neist Point. We were just sitting on the rocks of one of the inlets, enjoying the quietness and the view when this curious seal came up really close.
The dolphins: after a fishing trip on Loch Dunvegan we were returning. A bit gloomy, because the fish would not bite. But then everything changed: we were spotted by a troop of dolphins. They chased the boat, chirping, until they had enough and returned to the open ocean. A great experience.
The basking shark: during the summer of 2012 we were visiting Neist Point and this big basking shark showed up. Exiting! After we finished our tour and were walking back the shark returned and cruised along with us, following the rocky coastline. We tilted the camera and took some great shots.
